Chicago Abortion Fund
The Chicago Abortion Fund is a non-profit affiliated with the National Network of Abortion Funds (NNAF) which seeks to provide financial aid for low-income women seeking abortions.
About
In 1985, the Chicago Abortion Fund (CAF) was founded by pro-choice health care providers and community members based in Chicago, Illinois. Affiliated with the National Network of Abortion Funds (NNAF), the organization's purpose is to make abortion financially possible for low-income women. "The Chicago Abortion Fund (CAF) fights to overturn economic barriers to reproductive choice."[1] According to their website, the CAF board of staff and directors believe, "That abortion is a choice for women without judgment or qualification. It is a decision that a woman has the right to make at any time during a pregnancy, for any reason, despite her age, marital status or income, and without coercion."[2] Considering abortion overly priced, the CAF sees current government funding of abortion as inadequate. According to NNAF, the CAF provided financial aid to make 159 abortions possible.[3]
