Paul Hutchison
Dr. Paul Hutchison is a member of parliament with the National Party and is an supporter of legal abortion.
Early Life & Education
Hutchison was born in Wellington and remained there for his primary and secondary education, attending Khandallah School and Onslow College. He went to Victoria and Otago Universities to further his education and achieved a MB. ChB in 1970. Followed by a FRCOG, FRACOG and a Dip. Com. H.[1]
Medical Work
From 1972-1974 Paul worked as a Resident in Pathology at Metropolitan General Hospital, Cleveland, USA. He then returned to New Zealand to work as Senior House Officer and Registrar at National Women’s Hospital in Auckland. Paul became a lecturer for the University of London at St Thomas' Hospital and qualified as a specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
On return to New Zealand, he became a consultant at National Women's Hospital, at North Shore Hospital, working part-time in private practice.[1]
Abortion Supervisory Committee
Paul Hutchison was appointed to the Abortion Supervisory Committee on 2 May 1992. He resigned on 16 September 1994.
