Roe v. Wade, 410 U.S. 113 (1973), is the highly controversial decision by the United States Supreme Court which granted women the legal right to terminate a pregnancy. In this decision, the court ruled unconstitutional a state law that banned abortions except to save the life of the mother, arguing that a woman's decision to end her pregnancy is protected by a broad right of privacy.
