Dr. Zoe During (born in Wellington on 15 February 1925, died in Auckland on 24 Nov 2008)

Personal Life

Zoe During's high school education was at Marsden College and she graduated in medicine from Otago University. At the age of 20 she married European immigrant Peter Kauders whom she was married to for 57 years and with whom she had five children.[1]

ALRANZ

Zoe During - then based in the Waikato, became involved in the Abortion Law Reform Association of New Zealand soon after it was formed in 1971. She later became president of the Auckland Branch of the organisation.[1]

Department of Health

During worked as a Child Health Medical Officer in the Department of Health where she worked on sex education and was one of the first to speak publicly on abortion.[1]
